Leodis McKelvin took the opening kickoff of overtime 49 yards to midfield, but if you ask him or anyone in the stadium he was gone had he not gotten tangled up with a teammate.
“It was a call and I got a lane,” said McKelvin. “Once I see a lane i’m going to burst through it and I was in the open field. I got past that first wave and it was just me, (Arthur) Moats and the safety guy. Moats knew I was behind him. I was going towards him to try to cut up field and I ended up tripping over his feet. That’s just bad luck of the draw.”
When asked if he thought he was going to the house, McKelvin indicated that did think he’d get to the end zone.
