In a conference call with the Miami media this week Chan Gailey was asked if he was surprised to see Fred Jackson take on the primary role in the offensive backfield. Here was his response.
“I guess I’m surprised at that because in preseason I didn’t see Fred and I didn’t see Marshawn [Lynch],” said Gailey. “All I saw was C.J. and C.J. did some really good things in preseason.
“We all know the level of intensity goes up a notch when you hit the regular season. Then, all of the sudden things weren’t as clean for C.J. and he wasn’t able to adjust as quickly as we had thought. So, Fred had played and been there and became the guy that we have used the most. But C.J. is going to be a really good player before it’s over with. He’s just got to continue to learn and have some patience with his running.”
