As we chronicled earlier this week, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Stevie Johnson and Fred Jackson have a chance to post 3,000, 1,000 and 1,000-yard seasons here in 2010. If they do pull it off before the season is out they won’t be the first in a Chan Gailey offense to do so.
In the time Gailey has been an offensive coordinator and head coach in the league he’s had two other pairs of offensive trios throw for 3,000 yards, and have 1,000 yards rushing and receiving. Here are the two other threesomes that have done it under Gailey.
1989 Denver Broncos
QB John Elway – 3,051 yards passing
RB Bobby Humphrey – 1,151 yards rushing
WR Vance Johnson – 1,095 yards receiving
1997 Pittsburgh Steelers
QB Kordell Stewart – 3,020 yards passing
RB Jerome Bettis – 1,665 yards rushing
WR Yancey Thigpen – 1,398 yards receiving
