Bills head coach Chan Gailey confirmed that the team will add a wide receiver to their 53-man roster this week in the wake of David Nelson’s rib injury.
“We’ll probably get another receiver anticipating that (Nelson) probably won’t play,” said Gailey.
Gailey said Sunday that Nelson would not be ready to play in the season finale against the Jets, despite Nelson’s claims that he’s feeling better today (Monday).
“I’m glad he’s feeling better, but that status I don’t believe is going to change,” Gailey said.
Buffalo makes frequent use of a four wide set on offense, but without Nelson would have only three healthy receivers. So adding a fourth is necessary. The Bills have two receivers on their practice squad in Paul Hubbard and Bobby Williams.
Hubbard was called up from the practice squad earlier this season for a short stint on the active roster.
