This latest mock draft from DraftNasty.com, the site run by former NFL safety Corey Chavous has a pretty well thought out mock for this early in the game. They’ve got the Bills taking a defensive lineman that I’ve been high on ever since I saw him play against LSU this past fall.
With the third pick DraftNasty has Buffalo taking Auburn DL Nick Fairley. Fairley has yet to formally declare for the draft, and some believe he might not even be on the board at three with Carolina and Denver both in need of defensive help.
In this mock draft they have Carolina taking pass rusher Da’Quan Bowers from Clemson and Denver taking CB Patrick Peterson from LSU. Both are certainly possible as Carolina needs a quality pass rusher after losing Julius Peppers last offseason and Denver could use corner help with Champ Bailey scheduled to be a free agent and 32-years old.
Fairley is valuable not only for his play making ability, but because he’s stout enough to play end in a 3-4 and athletic enough to play end in a 4-3. He could also play three-technique in a 4-3, so his versatility is almost as valuable as his playmaking ability.
