There are just four NFL teams left as we head into Conference Championship weekend and Bills head coach Chan Gailey broke down all four of the remaining QBs.
With Buffalo having played Chicago, Green Bay, the Jets and Pittsburgh this season, Gailey had some great comments on all four QBs for SI.com, but I thought his most telling comment was the one that appears at the end in terms of what helps a quarterback.
“As well as they’ve four guys have played this year, don’t let one other thing get lost in this, and that being there are four pretty good defenses playing this week,” Gailey said. “Between the Steelers, Jets, Packers and Bears, I’ll bet you they’re all in the top 10 on defense. [They’re all in the top 9 in yards allowed.] That really helps a quarterback. You don’t have to score 36 points a week to win. If he makes a mistake, he knows his defense will stop them and he’ll get another chance. Not having to score every time he gets the ball, you can’t imagine how much that helps a quarterback do his job.”
Another indication as I see it that defense will be a heavy, heavy focus of the Bills brass this offseason.
