Rookie LB Danny Batten never made it out of training camp last summer as a severely separated shoulder led to surgery and injured reserve. He recently reflected on his frustrating rookie season as a spectator.
Speaking with the Sioux Falls Argus Leader while back at his college campus, Batten expressed how tough it was to watch his draft classmates “make names for themselves” and get their feet wet in the NFL.
The last time I spoke with Batten toward the end of the 2010 season he told me he had been moved to inside linebacker where it’s anticipated he’ll line up in 2011. Seeing it mentioned that he has a new position coach to get used to in Dave Wannstedt indicates that’s still the plan heading into next season. Wannstedt is in charge of inside linebackers with Bob Sanders handling the outside backers.
