Alabama RB Mark Ingram, widely considered the top RB prospect in the 2011 draft pool, is apparently going to be coming in a bit lighter than some may have anticipated in Indy for the NFL combine.
Ingram told the New Orleans Times-Picayune that he’s shed 10 pounds in pre-draft training down in the New Orleans area. For the first time since his freshman year he’s at 212 pounds.
“I look bigger. I look a lot more cut,” Ingram told the Times-Picayune. “Everything is coming together now. All the things we work on are starting to show, and I’m excited to go show what I can do. I’m ready to put all this work to the test. I’m ready to go out there and put it all on the line.”
What’s interesting is Ingram is training in preparation for what will be required of him at an NFL training camp rather than for the drills at the combine. Ingram is forecast as a first-round pick, with several mocks projecting him off the board anywhere from Miami at 15 to New Orleans at 24.
