DraftInsiders is reporting that Auburn DL Nick Fairley is still rehabbing an injury that will prevent him from participating in the bench press here at the NFL combine.
Draft Insiders’ Tony Pauline tweeted the following on Fairley.
TonyPauline Nick Fairley/DL/Auburn has been rehabbing a small separation in his shoulder he suffered during the season.
UPDATE: DraftInsiders is reporting that Fairley will not participate in the bench press here at the combine, but otherwise is in shape and expected to weigh in at around 300 lbs.
Defensive linemen will be available for interviews on Saturday. The bench press is not a make or break type event here at the combine. Just ask Buddy Nix.
“The only time I’ve ever seen the bench press used in football is getting up off the ground and we don’t want that guy,” said Nix. “What it really does is tell you how much he’s been working. All this stuff is like little pieces of a puzzle and it makes the big picture at the end. It doesn’t carry a lot of weight.”
