In talking to Bills safety George Wilson shortly after he signed his extension with Buffalo it was easy to hear how happy he was over the phone. Wilson used the word ecstatic more than once and it was evident in his jovial tone. Of course it doesn’t get much better than signing a long term deal before taking off on a three city tour of Europe.
“I’m going to Rome, London and Paris,” said Wilson just before departing out of Atlanta’s Hartsfield airport. “It’s something I’ve always wanted to do ever since I was a child. So I wanted to take advantage of the time when I had it.”
Though Wilson is a Kentucky native and now a world traveler, signing an extension with the Bills only made him feel closer to his adopted city of Buffalo.
“I’m just living a dream from a football standpoint,” said Wilson. “It’s just real heartfelt. When I’m leaving Buffalo on the airplane I really felt like I’m leaving home. I find myself missing and thinking about Buffalo even when I’m gone. I think I’ve become a Buffalonian now.”
Not too many guys as genuine as that guy around in football or anywhere else.
