UCLA OLB Akeem Ayers had one of the less impressive workouts at the NFL combine last month, but he made up for it at the Bruins’ pro day.
Performing in front of reps from 27 NFL teams, Ayers despite weighing five pounds heavier (259) than he did at the combine (254) ran 4.68 and 4.74 40 times, which was better than the 4.81 and 4.88 he posted in Indy. According to NFL.com’s Gil Brandt Ayers also fared well in positional drills showing the athleticism necessary to handle an outside linebacker role in terms of coverage drops to play OLB in a 3-4 or 4-3 system.
Ayers has been forecast as a late first or early second round pick.
