Villanova OT Ben Ijalana held a personal workout for NFL scouts this week due to a sports hernia that kept him from performing at the NFL combine in February.
Though the sport hernia still kept him from benching, he did run a pair of 40 times in the mid 5.2s according to NFL.com’s Gil Brandt. He also had a 25 1/2″ vertical and an 8’9″ broad jump.
Ijalana at 6’3 5/8″ and 313 pounds was seen by some scouts as a guard because some weren’t sure he was tall enough to play tackle in the NFL. However, his arms measured in at 36 inches, third longest among offensive linemen. With a longer reach some NFL clubs likely feel he can steer pass rushers wide despite not having ideal height.
He’s seen as a late second or early third round pick.
