Earlier in the week we laid out the Bills post-draft QB plans with Ryan Fitzpatrick and Levi Brown the only two quarterbacks currently under contract. Head coach Chan Gailey indicated that they would sign two, but that they might sign two veteran free agents or a veteran and undrafted rookie. Nix further explained why those two scenarios still exist.
Appearing on WHTK radio in Rochester Thursday, Nix explained that a lot of it will depend on whether undrafted free agency starts first or veteran free agency starts first once the league’s labor situation is cleared up.
“We’ve looked at two or three scenarios,” he said. “We would like to have a veteran guy that can come in that has played the league. A guy that can go in and finish a game and maybe start a game and give you a chance to win. Now there are two options. We’re going to bring in two guys. If college free agency opens up and we think there’s a developmental guy that has some potential we’d bring him in. If that’s not the case we might sign two veterans.”
