Countdown to Bills new Uniform Unveiling – 17 days

— Today and for the remainder of the week the Bills Healthy Zone will host High School Player Development from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.  The H.S.P.D. camp is held for incoming high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors and focuses on character development and specific football skill training by position. The event will feature guest speakers from local colleges and universities and Bills’ assistant head coach/inside linebackers coach Dave Wannstedt will address the group on Wednesday.

—  The Buffalo Bills announced yesterday  that they have partnered with BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York to re-name the Bills Fieldhouse, “The Bills Healthy Zone.”   In addition to new signage on the side of the building, the Bills administrative offices will also have main entry signage reflecting “The Healthy Zone” verbiage.  The Bills charging buffalo logo and the BlueCross BlueShield logo will accompany the wording on the signs.  The Buffalo Bills and BlueCross BlueShield have been partners since 1998 and share a major focus toward the promotion of health and fitness initiatives.  “The Bills Healthy Zone” is a perfect way to capture the essence of, and support, this strategic alignment.

— The NFL announced yesterday that former Bills John Fina and Dustin Fox are among the 16 former players who will be taking part in this year’s NFL Broadcast Boot Camp from June 20-23.  The program is directed by the NFL Player Engagement and NFL Broadcasting departments and covers a wide range of topics with instructors from each of the NFL’s broadcast partners – CBS, ESPN, FOX, NBC, NFL Network, SiriusXM Radio, Westwood One Radio, plus local radio and TV.  It will include hands-on work in areas such as tape study, editing, show preparation, radio production, control room operation, studio preparation, production meetings, field reporting and game preparation.  Each player will tape segments as a studio and game analyst and take part in a networking session with television executives.  Each player also will serve as a live radio host on SiriusXM NFL Radio.

Uniform Fact of the Day
In 1979, the Bills again altered the look of the helmets slightly, this time switching to blue facemasks.  In 1980, the Bills began the practice of wearing white jerseys with blue pants at home games.  That year they also started a four-year run of wearing wide-mesh jerseys for warm-weather games.

The American Football League (AFL) owners voted to expand the league by two teams. They also approved expansion of the active roster to 40 players.  (The two teams were the Miami Dolphins – began play in 1966; and the Cincinnati Bengals – began play in 1968)
