Now that the league’s doors will be re-opening to players Tuesday, Bills coaches and those around the league have a lot to accomplish in a short period of time to be ready for the 2011 season having not had the benefit of any spring workouts. They need to get new players up to speed, while also refreshing the minds of the returning players from last season.
Bills head coach Chan Gailey admits that the young players and new players will need added time to rep plays in the scheme. That however, will need to be balanced against getting the veteran players the coaches will be depending on Sundays ready for the season.
“What we will try to do is give the rookies as much extra time as we possibly can without holding back the veterans,” said Gailey. “So that’s a fine line we’re going to have to walk as we go into preparation for training camp and the season.”
Young players will not only need reps to get acclimated to their respective systems, but to also be effectively evaluated by the coaching staff.
