QUOTE FOR THE DAY
Head Coach Chan Gailey on playing on 9-11:
“I had a talk with our players (Wednesday) morning about that. I’m not sure that everybody understands the significance of September 11th to our country, especially young people. I hope they realize the significance of this and there’s going to be something going on in every stadium around the league. I just want them to take it with solemnest and pride; whatever else it is that you do when you’re an American to understand what this is all about.”
QB Ryan Fitzpatrick on playing on 9-11:
“It’s hard to believe it’s been 10 years. I remember being a freshman in college, waking up in my dorm and seeing how it affected the (Harvard) campus and the people who had family members who were in the building or in the area. Everyone is always going to remember that day. I think it’s special for everybody to see how we’ve reacted to it and come along in the last 10 years. It’s significant. With some of the pregame ceremonies (scheduled for Sunday) it’ll be neat to reflect on where we were that day and how far we’ve come.”
THIS DAY IN BILLS HISTORY
September 9, 1990 — BILLS SCORE 1,000th TOUCHDOWN
Butch Rolle’s touchdown reception was the Bills 1,000th TD in team history. Buffalo won the opener 26-10 over Indianapolis at Rich Stadium.
