The Bills are obviously happy with their 41-7 result against the Chiefs on Sunday, but in no way does one very encouraging performance leave them satisfied.
“We won and we wanted to start the year off the way we wanted to and we did,” said David Nelson, who had four catches for 66 yards. “We did a good job of that, but we still feel like we have work to do. We still have room to grow. We’re going to continue to stay motivated and on each other and help each other get better. But we have a lot of work to do and I hope this is just step one of continued growth.”
When you’re a year removed from an 0-8 start, it’s easy to stay sharp and not get complacent or enamored with an impressive opening victory.
It’s encouraging to know the Bills are taking their big win in stride instead of relishing it. They know there’s more work to do before opponents take them seriously and respect them week in and week out. As Fitz said, “It’s only one game.”
