BDC 9/15: New gameday safety procedure, today’s clips and more

Posted by Bills Daily Charge on September 15, 2011 – 8:16 am

DAILY REPORT

— The Buffalo Bills will be implementing an enhanced pat-down procedure starting with this Sunday’s game and the organization wants to communicate this new process to all fans attending the game.

The new procedure is a recommendation from the NFL in accordance with the league’s Best Practices policies. Specifically, the enhanced portion of the pat-down is for the area from the knees to the ankles.

Bills officials have long recommended that fans arrive early to the gates and continue to do so, especially with the enhanced pat-down now part of the security measures taken at Ralph Wilson Stadium. The organization also continues to remind fans of the changes to the game day traffic patterns for all Bills home games, particularly with the closure of Abbott Road directly in front of the stadium beginning five hours prior to kickoff.  Specific directions and alternate routes can be found on the Bills website, www.buffalobills.com.

— QB Ryan Fitzpatrick has been nominated for the FedEx Air player of the week award.  Fans can vote for Fitzpatrick at http://www.nfl.com/voting/players-air-and-ground.

THIS DAY IN BILLS HISTORY
September 15, 2002 — BLEDSOE SETS PASSING RECORD
In a thrilling 45-39 overtime victory over the Minnesota Vikings at the Metrodome, Drew Bledsoe set a team record for passing yards in a game with 463 yards as he completed three TD passes, including a 48-yard strike to Peerless Price for the winning TD.

QUOTE OF THE DAY
Head Coach Chan Gailey on the amount of late round picks and undrafted free agents on the roster:
“I don’t know if I say I like how they got here.  I like guys who feel like they have something to prove. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that, I think we all do.  Me, too. I was a late round pick. Everybody does and everybody’s got something to prove.  It doesn’t matter whether you’re a first rounder or an undrafted guy, if you find you have something to prove I think that’s a good motivator.”
