Bills SS George Wilson was named by Pro Football Weekly as their Defensive Player of the Week.
Here’s what PFW wrote about Wilson’s Week 5 performance against the Eagles.
George Wilson / S / Buffalo Bills – The Bills pulled off another stunner, intercepting QB Michael Vick four times in a 31-24 win over the Eagles. LB Nick Barnett made two of the interceptions and returned one for a touchdown, but Wilson picked off a Vick pass in the first quarter and led Buffalo with 11 tackles, all of which were solo jobs.
He was flying all over the field against Philadelphia’s potent attack and had one tackle for loss and one quarterback hit. He broke up two passes in addition to the interception. Vick racked up 405 total yards and threw two touchdown passes, but it wasn’t enough. “When you go against Michael Vick, you can only hope to contain him,” Wilson said after the game. The Bills did more than that Sunday — they took advantage of his errors, and they are still on top in the AFC East.
