Even in fantasy Fred passed over

Bills RB Fred Jackson is used to getting passed over. Undrafted as a Division III college player and unable to get an Arena League workout let along an NFL one, Jackson is used to being dismissed. He just didn’t think he’d be getting passed over in a family Fantasy football draft.

Jackson’s wife, Danielle, was part of a family and friends Fantasy Football draft. At the outset she stipulated that no one could draft her husband, and out of respect everyone in the league obliged on draft day.

The only problem was as players came off the board, Mrs. Jackson passed on Mr. Jackson in each of the first four rounds.

“She took Michael Vick in the first round,” said Jackson. “But I wasn’t even the first running back she took. She took Michael Turner. She kept passing me over. Finally I said, ‘I’m not going to sit here and watch you keep passing on me.'”

Mrs. Jackson eventually obliged and drafted her husband in the fifth round. Jackson’s never had an ego, so he laughs about it now, especially since he’s providing his wife with a boatload of points each week.

“She’s happy I’m on her team I know that,” he said.

When one thinks about it, Mrs. Jackson was pretty shrewd playing on the sympathies of her family and friends and basically putting the franchise tag on her husband and then by all accounts got tremendous value for him in the fifth round. A veteran fantasy football move if ever there was one.
