BDC 11/10: Record-setting blood drive

Posted by Bills Daily Charge on November 10, 2011 – 9:39 am

— The Buffalo Bills are offering a package of discounted tickets in a bid to fill a combined 57,000 unsold seats available for their final three home games.  Go to for more info.

Calling the promotion a “December Charge,” CEO Russ Brandon announced the deal on Tuesday, saying the team is offering a 12.5 percent discount when fans buy tickets for all three games.

“This is the first package we’ve rolled out that is really focused on the general fan to try to create awareness and a call to action of where we are right now heading into our December games,”  Brandon said.  “Our whole focus as an organization is to fill the building and provide the home-field advantage that we’ve enjoyed throughout the first four games of the year.”

Head Coach Chan Gailey
On what he remembers about Dallas HC Jason Garrett:
I knew he would be very successful in whatever he decided to do and I thought if he decided to coach he’d be a very successful head coach. I thought he was smarter than to coach but he ended up going into the business anyway. He’s done very well and I’m proud for him. He’s a great man.

On this game being a big test to the team on showing they can be a real contender:
Every game’s a test. You have to try to go win every game that you play. They all count the same. I know those division games are what I call “twofers”. Every game is important, every game at home and on the road. You’ve got to treat them like they’re the biggest game of the year. Like I told the players this morning, ‘You want to go prepare and play for this game like it’s the game that gets you to the playoffs or doesn’t get you to the playoffs. If it was the 16th one and this one got you into the playoffs, how would you prepare?’ And that’s how you have to prepare.

QB Ryan Fitzpatrick
On Head Coach Chan Gailey reminding the team that they do control their own destiny:
That was important. We came out of that last game, obviously that was our worst performance in the year, and maybe in the biggest game up to that point that we had. There were a lot of guys that were disappointed and frustrated and down, myself included. It’s a good reminder and it just puts things into perspective. The NFL is such a week to week business basically. You can come out and lay an egg which you don’t want to do, but sometimes that happens. You put it in the past and then you just get back on track and you get going again. That’s what we’re hoping to do.

RB Fred Jackson
On how to establish a rhythm:
That’s what we do. We build off of what we’re establishing early and we didn’t establish anything early last week.  We have to come out and execute more than anything. They did some things different than what we expected, but we feel like after looking at film if we would’ve executed the things we tried to get done we would’ve been fine. So we have to go out and execute early.

K Dave Rayner
On bouncing from opportunity to opportunity:
The good thing about our position is I don’t have to learn a playbook or do those kinds of things. You’ve just got to be able to adapt quickly and we’ll obviously get some work with field goal operation, but those two guys are both veterans. They’ve been doing it for a long time so hopefully everything goes smoothly and we win some games.

WR/QB Brad Smith signed some autographs for donors and fans at the American Red Cross Blood Drive, which produced record numbers Tuesday in the Paul Maguire Club at Ralph Wilson Stadium.
