DAILY REPORT
— The Buffalo Bills today announced the hiring of William Inge as assistant defensive line coach.

“We are excited to have William join our staff,“ said Bills head coach Chan Gailey. “We were impressed with his abilities during last year’s training camp and feel he will make an excellent addition to our defensive staff.”

Inge has spent the past two seasons as the University at Buffalo’s defensive coordinator/linebackers coach.  Prior to joining the University at Buffalo, Inge coached linebackers for two seasons at Cincinnati where he helped the school win back-to-back Big East titles in 2008 and 2009.

Inge is entering his first career season as an assistant coach in the National Football League and participated in the Bill Walsh NFL Minority Coaching Fellowship program with the Buffalo Bills last summer where he assisted current defensive coordinator Dave Wannstedt in coaching the inside linebackers.

Inge was a four-year letter-winner at Iowa and graduated in 1996.

— Rookie DL Marcell Dareus was selected to the National Football Post’s All-Rookie Team. Dareus finished sixth among rookie defensive linemen with 43 tackles (32 solo) in 2011 and recorded 5.5 sacks on the year – the most by a Bills rookie since 2001 (Aaron Schobel 6.5).

QUOTE OF THE DAY
General Manager Buddy Nix
On his confidence level in QB Ryan Fitzpatrick:
I’ve got no reservations about Ryan. He had some bad games. The thing we know for sure is that we’ve seen him do it. We’ve seen him have to good games. He’s what we thought he would be. I think when we started losing players and losing weapons for him he compensated by trying to carry the load some and playing with different receivers each week. Sounds like excuses, but they’re reasons. Another thing with Ryan is the interceptions and the things that he did that were turnovers toward the end of the year, had we wanted to keep those down and had he been the kind of guy that you’d run the ball more you wouldn’t take chances but you’re down 30 points and he’s still trying to score. That didn’t matter. He’s got a gun slinger mentality. I think you’ve got to rein that in a little bit and make good judgments but he’s, if we put good people around him we can get to the dance with Ryan.
