The consensus top cornerback in the 2012 NFL draft class, LSU’s Morris Claiborne, is going to have wrist surgery on Friday.
According to the New Orleans Times-Picayune, Claiborne suffered a torn ligament in his wrist in LSU’s 9-6 victory over Alabama, but played with it the remainder of the season. That explains why Claiborne did not participate in the bench press at the NFL Combine last month.
No word on a timetable for recovery post-surgery for Claiborne. At the LSU pro day Thursday he did improve his 40 time shaving it down to a 4.39. He ran a 4.5 at the Combine. Claiborne could be a top 3 pick in late April.
