More than Luck at Stanford pro day

While most will be watching QB Andrew Luck throw at Stanford’s pro day today, there’s an offensive tackle that has some work to do as well.

Left tackle Jonathan Martin, considered one of the top three tackles in the draft class, did not bench, do the vertical leap, broad jump, do the shuttle or 3 cone drill at the NFL Combine.

His cited a bout with food poisoning a couple of days before arriving in Indianapolis as the reason for not working out at the Combine last month. A solid performance would solidify him as one of the top three offensive tackles in the draft class with USC’s Matt Kalil and Iowas’ Riley Reiff.

Stanford will also have the top rated guard at their pro day today in David DeCastro as well as one of the top rated TE prospects in Coby Fleener.

“Coby Fleener is my highest-rated tight end right now, but I don’t have a first-round tight end anywhere,” said NFL Network draft analyst Mike Mayock. “Fleener has been hurt and couldn’t work out at the Combine. This is a huge day for him – how well does he run, how well does he catch, does he get in and out of breaks? They have two offensive linemen who could go in the first round. Let’s see their position drills. What’s going to happen with Jonathan Martin at left tackle? Is he a first-round left tackle? Certainly we know that David DeCastro is a first-round offensive guard.”

Other pro days of note today (Thursday) are Memphis (DT Dontari Poe) and Boise State which has a handful of draft worthy prospects.
