The Jets during the Mike Tannenbaum regime have made bold moves up the draft board (e.g. Mark Sanchez) before. Are they looking to do it again?
According to ESPN New York there’s widespread speculation the Jets are contemplating a move up the board to secure the best running back in the draft in Trent Richardson. Richardson is widely considered a top five pick and could go as high as fourth overall to Cleveland.
The Jets currently sit at 16 overall in round one and it would take an awful lot to move up 11 or 12 spots to get Richardson, who according to ESPN’s Sal Palaontonio is the top player on New York’s draft board.
New York does have 10 picks, but their trading power is limited with only three in the top 150 selections. They’d have to part with a high pick in future years, likely a first to get up to four or five to land Richardson. Sounds like a long shot.
