Today, both Stevie Johnson and Bryan Scott hosted community guests at camp.
Johnson who has been working with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Buffalo for the past year brought along a group of children to watch practice. Immediately following, Stevie made his way to the tent to interact with the children and sign autographs for them.
“I want to show them that doing good can get you somewhere,” said Johnson. The guys on that field are a product of doing good in life. We just want to be examples for the kids.”
Johnson grew up going to Boys and Girls Clubs, and is humbled that he is able to share the experience with the younger generation.
“We were them at one point,” said the wide receiver. “I really believe in that and I feel good about this whole program. Whether I’m on the field catching touchdowns or not, this is something that can benefit kids around the world.”
Bills linebacker Bryan Scott also hosted a special guest, 13-year old Lauren who was the winner of his “Show Your Dedication” contest. Full story can be read here. Lauren received a 5,000 award and two super bowl tickets courtesy of Bryan Scott.
Lauren, who won the contest because of her inspiring story of her dream of dancing shared with buffalobills.com what she did with the grant money.
“We are planning on purchasing a TV for our (dance) studio which will be really nice to watch all of our past performance videos,” said Hendrick. “We are also going to get a new iPad system for music and new (ballet) bars.”
The grant also helped the dancer pay for a summer ballet program, Neglia which Lauren attended for 5 weeks.
“I wouldn’t have been able to do that program without this,” said Hendrick. “The money that helped upgrade our studio was really needed, and I believe it will help attract more students.”
