Two days before the Steelers face the Bills in a Saturday night preseason game, Pittsburgh has fired their special teams coach.

Al Everest was dismissed by head coach Mike Tomlin Thursday.

“We are continually evaluating our coaching staff and support staff and we have decided to go in a different direction with respect to the coaching of our special teams,” said Tomlin according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Assistant special teams coach Amos Jones is assuming the duties as special teams coordinator. This is the second special teams coach Tomlin has fired in his tenure as head coach. Tomlin fired Bob Ligashesky at the conclusion of the 2009 season.
