In his weekly appearance on WGR Sportsradio 550 on Friday mornings (8 am), Bills GM Buddy Nix was naturally disappointed by the turnovers in Sunday’s game, but there are two areas of the team in particular that have him very encouraged moving forward.
“The good thing was and I think the difference in the feeling to me this year and the two previous years I was here is the fact that we’ve got good players,” said Nix. “Two of the hardest positions to rebuild and get good at and get strong at is offensive line and defensive line. Our offensive line, I’m excited about them. We’ve got young players and they’re talented and they play good together. Trust me that is a slow process to get that done. I think there will be some things they can improve on and they’ll get better as the year goes on. That’s the encouraging thing to me.
“The other thing is the defensive line. We’re two deep over there. Against the run, we stopped the run and if you can do that, now we’ve got to tighten up things as Chan said in the secondary where the guy can’t get the ball out on rhythm, and if he does I don’t care how good your defensive line is you won’t get there. Those are encouraging things to me. We’ve got to correct the mistakes and not turn the ball over and if we do that we’ll be a good football team.”
