BDC 9/20: LT Glenn helps with rushing success

Posted by Bills Daily Charge on September 20, 2012 – 10:02 am

–A joint press conference with the Buffalo Bills and Girls on the Run Program will be held today at 3:30 PM at the Buffalo United Charter School in Buffalo to announce the kickoff of the fall ‘Girls on the Run Program.’

–With Bills RB CJ Spiller leading the NFL in rushing through two weeks, much of the credit goes to the emerging offensive line and a key member of the unit has been LT Cordy Glenn. features Glenn in today’s Bills Focus video.>>>

–The NFL announced yesterday that running backs Reggie Bush of the Miami Dolphins, Marshawn Lynch of the Seattle Seahawks and C.J. SPILLER of the Buffalo Bills are the finalists for the FedEx Ground NFL Player of the Week. Spiller carried the ball 15 times for 123 yards and two scores averaging 8.2 yards per rush in the Bills 35-17 win over the Kansas City Chiefs.  Fans can vote for one player in each category on from 9 a.m. EST on Tuesday through 3 p.m. EST on Friday to determine the FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Week. The winners will be announced tomorrow on NFL Total Access on NFL Network and on

–The Buffalo Bills lead the NFL with an average gain of 11.0 rushing yards on plays directed to the left tackle side of the offensive line (stat per NFLGSIS).

QB Ryan Fitzpatrick
On how rookie LT Cordy Glenn has done:
I think Cordy (Glenn), along with Stephon (Gilmore) on the other side, those guys have been thrown into it right away. Really OTAs, mini-camp and training camp, they have been put out there and asked to perform and perform at a high level. That expectation right off the bat is something that has helped them. They have been able to get a lot of reps and Cordy steps into an offensive line room that is a veteran group of guys—guys that have been together and played together here in this system for years now. I think that also helps. He has got more than one or two guys to lean on in that room and to be able to help him. Physically, we knew what we were getting, and the mental part has been very nice, too, in terms of what he has been able to pick up and how he has been able to grasp the offense.

Bills RB Fred Jackson worked with Bills trainers during yesterday’s practice as part of his rehabilitation process.
