OC Hackett, Bills staff run Buffalo Half Marathon

A number of Bills staff saw Buffalo on their feet this weekend as they ran in the 2013 Buffalo Half Marathon, including Offensive Coordinator Nathaniel Hackett.

“It was something I wanted to do with my wife,” said Hackett. “We’ve had a lot of children and one of her goals was to finish a half marathon so we trained a little bit together. We had a great time and I almost passed out twice but she kept me going. She was coaching me up. I was like, ‘I can’t breathe!’ I’m just happy I could be there for her and that I didn’t fall down. It’s just a great happy time out there.”

This is Hackett’s second go as a coach on the Bills, and he says events like the half marathon remind him how much he enjoys living in Buffalo. He ran the full Buffalo Marathon in 2009.

“It’s a great way to see the city, going down by the water,” he said. “ Anybody that hasn’t done it, it’s one of those things that you have to try to do because it’s such a big accomplishment. But then to be able to see Buffalo and see the people of Buffalo and how it all comes together, I mean the people are just great.”

Hackett and wife Megan were happy to reach their goal, crossing the finish line in under two hours.

In his first ever half marathon, Strength and Conditioning Assistant Dan Liburd had an impressive showing, placing third in his age group with a time of 1:27:04.

Other Bills staff who completed the 13.1 mile race were Mike Adamek, Emily Herr, Dallas Miller, Zach Rutkowski, and Anna Stolzenburg.

Congratulations to the Bills staff and all finishers of the 2013 Buffalo Full and Half Marathon races!

Race to the finish line at Ralph Wilson Stadium on June 29th in our very own Fifty Yard Finish half marathon and 5k race. Register today!
