BDC 10/15: Bills Sign Flynn

Posted by Bills Daily Charge on October 15, 2013 – 10:09 am

— The Buffalo Bills announced yesterday that the team has signed QB Matt Flynn to the 53-man roster. In accordance with team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed. Flynn joins the Bills after being released by the Oakland Raiders on October 7. The 6-2, 230-pound LSU product entered the NFL as a seventh-round (209th overall) draft selection of the Green Bay Packers in 2008. He spent his first four years (2008-11) in the NFL with the Packers before joining the Seattle Seahawks in 2012 and was traded to Oakland in 2013. In three career starts, Flynn has completed 76-of-113 passes for 958 yards with 10 touchdowns and three interceptions for a 111.9 passer rating. He has appeared in 39 games with totals of 109 completions, 1,329 passing yards and 10 touchdowns.

— The Bills also announced that the team has placed DB Jonathan Meeks on Injured Reserve/Designated for Return. Under this designation, Meeks will be eligible to return to practice after being on Injured Reserve for at least six weeks. He will be eligible to return to the Active List after being on Injured Reserve for at least eight weeks.

— For the third consecutive year, Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI) and the Buffalo Bills are hosting the Prostate Cancer Early Diagnosis Outreach Clinica free prostate cancer education and early detection event, encouraging men to learn their own statistics such as their prostate-specific antigen (PSA) level, family history or other factors that may raise their prostate cancer risk. RPCI doctors will be performing free screenings in the Paul Maguire Club at Ralph Wilson Stadium that will include prostate-specific antigen (PSA) blood tests and digital rectal exams (DRE) for eligible men.

After tallying 22 tackles on Sunday versus the Bengals, LB Kiko Alonso now leads the NFL in tackles with 66 on the year and has been nominated for the Week Six Pepsi Rookie of the Week. You can cast your vote for the award by clicking here. (Photo courtesy of AP)

DOUG MARRONE Buffalo Bills Head Coach
Q: What did you like from Matt Flynn in his workout?
A: I like him. Again you don’t have a lot of exposure right now, it’s not like you’ve gone in and really studied. You’re more concerned with the people that are here. Then obviously Doug Whaley and the scouts, they’ll look at what’s out there and bring people in. Coming in he did a nice job. He worked out this morning for us and looked very comfortable. Obviously good rhythm obviously has experience. We’ll come in and start working with him.
