BDC 11/13: Bills Add to Practice Squad

Posted by Bills Daily Charge on November 13, 2013 – 9:26 am

— The Buffalo Bills today announced that the team has signed DE Ikponmwosa Igbinosun (pronounced ee-PO-mo-sahh ig-bi-NO-sun) to the team’s Practice Squad. A 6-3, 286-pound Southern Connecticut State product, Igbinosun entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2012 before being released prior to the regular season. He spent a portion of his rookie season on the Practice Squad of the Dallas Cowboys and was released during the team’s 2013 training camp.  Igbinosun was a first-team All-Northeast 10 Conference selection as a senior recording 58 tackles, a team-leading 7.0 sacks, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries in 10 starts. Buffalo also announced that the team has released DE Adewale Ojomo from the Practice Squad.

Buffalo Bills players participated in a special assembly yesterday, speaking to students about the importance of staying active as Community Charter School was named the 2013 Buffalo Bills Play 60 Super School. During the visit, Bills players led students in football-themed physical activity stations as part of the Bills’ and NFL’s Play 60 campaign, making sure children receive at least 60 minutes of physical activity each day.

Q: Do you think EJ (Manuel) came back too soon?
A: No. He was ready to go and obviously medically cleared, so he was ready to go. EJ has had two setbacks this year when it comes to the injury front. We all know he was hurt in preseason and that cost him two and a half weeks. His progression was coming along very nicely through the first four games of the year and then to have another setback where he’s off the field for four or five weeks, that’s difficult. If you look at where he was heading in his first five games and you take a look at some statistics, the 10 rookie quarterbacks that have started the first five games since 2000, he had a passer rating that was the third highest among those quarterbacks. Those include Cam Newton and Andy Dalton and guys like that. When you look at it from that perspective, he was really progressing nicely. He takes four or five weeks off and then comes back on the road against a really tough Pittsburgh team and obviously he didn’t play very well. He’s the first one to tell you that. As far as what he’s trying to do and his progression, that’s what we’re really focused on over the next six weeks.
