Most fans know Fred Jackson’s underdog story, but his initiation into football is a piece of that story that many might not have heard.
His parents are both football fans, but it was his mom that got Fred and his twin brother Patrick into football.
“My mom got me started in it,” he said. “She was one of my first coaches. She took my brother and I out there. We didn’t actually know a lot about football until she took us out there and ever since we started playing we knew it was something we wanted to do.”
He and Patrick continued to excel in sports, not just individually but together as they both used their athleticism to make the track and football teams at Coe College.
The brothers were on the same 4x100m relay team that earned them All-American track honors in college and they still workout together when they can in the off season.
