When EJ was hurt last week

Bills head coach Doug Marrone provided some details as to exactly when EJ Manuel sustained the sprained left knee that will keep him out of this Sunday’s game against Miami.

He said it happened on the third to last play from scrimmage in the first half. It was a 1st-and-10 that Manuel threw incomplete intended for Fred Jackson. There was traffic in the pocket as he delivered the ball and Manuel was taken to the ground by Jaguars DL Tyson Alualu. After hitting the ground Jaguars pass rusher Jason Babin tries to hop over Manuel, but his legs get tangled up with Manuel’s, which are up in the air.

That is where the injury apparently took place, as on the game tape you can see Manuel wincing as he makes his way up to the line of scrimmage for the next play.

“We didn’t know at the time where it occurred,” said Marrone. “We went back and looked was really the second or third to last play of the half in Jacksonville. Where he’s hit in the pocket on an incomplete pass on the check down and then another player comes over the top while his left leg is up and hits it.”
