BDC 1/30: Bills Add Hostler

Posted by Bills Daily Charge on January 30, 2014 – 9:40 am

— The Buffalo Bills announced yesterday that Jim Hostler has been named the team’s senior offensive assistant. Hostler comes to Buffalo with 15 years of NFL coaching experience, including the past six seasons as the Baltimore Ravens’ wide receivers coach. During his time with the Ravens, Hostler oversaw a receiving corps that played an integral role in the team’s 2012 Super Bowl championship. During the 2012 campaign, the Ravens’ wideouts finished second in franchise history for most receiving yards during a single season with 3,996.

— Arthur Moats, the Bills United Way Worldwide Spokesman, is locked into a neck-and-neck battle with the Seahawks’ Cliff Avril to accumulate volunteer pledges for the Bills’ United Way Team NFL campaign. A Moats’ victory would bring a $10,000 grant to the United Way of Buffalo and Erie County. In a contest that is separated by only a handful of pledges, your pledge truly does matter. Pledging is fast and easy and requires no monetary donation. To register and help grow Arthur’s tally, you don’t have to commit to a time or activity right away; providing only your name and email will complete your “pledge” and help put him back in the lead. — Help Bills DT Kyle Williams win a $3,000 equipment grant for his high school alma mater, Ruston High School in Ruston, LA! The fifth annual USA Football All-Fundamentals Team recognizes NFL players who employ proper technique, particularly when blocking and tackling, which fosters better on-field performance and inherent safety benefits. As the Buffalo Bills representative on the USA Football All-Fundamentals team, Williams trails only Richard Sherman and Luke Kuechly as the Defensive Team Captain, which would secure the additional grant for his high school. On what it was like make it to the Super Bowl:
“You never forget being there. At the time when it happened, you say, are we really here? It’s exciting. It’s a culmination what you thought about when you were a little kid. There was no Super Bowl, by the way, when I was a kid, but you get the gist.”
