Kaufman Ready for Tight End: JMS Recap 4/17

Posted by johnmurphyshow on April 17, 2014 – 10:16 pm

Next week marks the start of OTA’s for the Buffalo Bills. Players will return to One Bills Drive for the voluntary workouts. The topic of discussion for tonight’s show focused on what player has the most to prove or needs to show the most improvement?

Brandon Kaufman

One of those players could be receiver Brandon Kaufman, who joined the show to discuss his offseason. He has put on close to 30 pounds since last year’s training camp. The added size is welcomed as he has been in discussion with coaches about a possible switch to tight end.

“I feel good about it if the position change happens. I definitely think that’s where I can be most productive with this team especially. I will like that opportunity.”

Kaufman also thinks he can add more to the special teams unit. He will join his teammates on Tuesday when OTA’s begin.

Kaufman’s teammate, tight end Tony Moeaki also called-in to talk about the upcoming season. Moeaki did not play much after being signed late last season after suffering shoulder and knee injuries. He said that the two games he appeared in with Buffalo gave him confidence moving forward with the Bills offensive system.

“I have everything to prove. I’m excited to get back and just get out there for OTA’s and prove what I can do. I want to show I can help the team in different ways and take it one day at a time. I want to work hard and let the chips fall where they may.”

Moeaki spent time during the offseason with around a half-dozen Bills players in California. Quarterback EJ Manuel led the workouts with preplanned routes and plays. He said it was very productive.

It’s exactly three weeks away from the start of the 2014 NFL Draft. We continued our draft preview with Ourlads GM and National Scout Dan Shonka. The team from Ourlads are releasing their new mock draft with their own evaluation of each prospect. Shonka and his team have only one quarterback going in the first round, that being Johnny Manziel of Texas A&M to the Browns at number 26.

Shonka also has Jake Matthews, Manziel’s teammate at Texas A&M, going second overall to the Rams. You can hear the complete interview and the rest of The John Murphy Show, below:
