You may have missed it in last night’s 20-18 win over the Panthers, but Marcell Dareus is scary good.
With Buffalo up 3-0 late in the first quarter, Dareus flashed a bit of the Pro Bowl-caliber talent that had him rated by his peers as one of the top 100 players in the league – exploding through a cut off block on the back side of an inside run from the Carolina 47.
After knocking his first opponent to the ground, Dareus seeks out the ball carrier. Evading a spinning Kyle Williams, Dareus sifts through a sea of huge bodies and demonstrates impressive change of direction in tight quarters. Bear in mind that Dareus himself tips the scales at 331 pounds and the men he’s working around and against are some of the biggest athletes on the planet.
In the blink of an eye in real-time: Dareus starts at a standstill, runs into an opponent with such force that only one is left on his feet, avoids Kyle Williams en route, and delivers a devastating blow for a loss of one yard.
