In games as trying as Sunday’s in Chicago was previous Bills teams might have made the critical mistake or not maintained their mental toughness to pull out the victory. The fact that the Bills did has Kyle Williams feeling this team is different.
“The thing that I was most encouraged about is in the fourth quarter we get a holding call picked up, which I’ve never seen in my whole career, which would’ve put them so far behind the eight ball,” he said. “So we get a holding call picked up, which I’ve never seen. Teams in the past that I’ve been on would use that as a crutch or excuse at the end of the game. If we got beat in overtime that call hinged the game and that shouldn’t have happened. I’ve never seen that happen.
“It fueled a bit of a fire for everybody and they used it to go out and win a football game. That’s the kind of team I want to be on. That’s what I told the guys in the locker room after the game. When things seem like they’re against you or the tide turns against you especially on the road, against a good offensive football team to turn around and use it and win the football game, that’s the kind of team I want to be on. That’s what we bond over.”
