Vikings LB Chad Greenway is trying to return from a three-game absence this week due to three broken ribs suffered back in Week 3. Minnesota defensive coordinator George Edwards (a former Bills DC) commented on his linebacker’s chances of playing Sunday against the Bills.
“Well he practiced (Wednesday) so we’ll just progress through the week and just see how he does during practice as we go through the week,” Edwards said. “(Wednesday) he practiced pretty good and seemed to be okay but we just have to follow it through the week and see how he feels as we keep going.”
Edwards believes Greenway, who practiced fully on Thursday, can make a big difference in their defensive scheme if he’s available.
“Chad is a good player, there’s no doubt about it. Getting him back would be a boost for us but again, we just have to follow it through the week, see how he’s doing, see as they keep looking at him through the week, see how he’s progressing and that kind of thing,” said Edwards. “I don’t know medically all the things that they’re talking about so from that aspect of it we’ll just have to keep going and see how he progresses through the week.”
Greenway was listed as doubtful last week and did not play. He said last week that breathing is the most painful thing to do when his heart rate is up.
