By no means are we indicating that Bills newest RB Phillip Tanner is the next Fred Jackson. What we have found though is that Tanner has some interesting personal parallels with the veteran back.
Tanner, much like Jackson, went undrafted. The fourth-year back was not selected in the 2011 NFL draft. He played at a smaller college program – Middle Tennessee State, though it’s more on the radar than Coe College.
Tanner is also a native Texan like Jackson.
Though he’s been on the Cowboys’ roster each of the last three seasons he’s had all of 56 carries for 149 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He’s 26-years old, the same age Jackson was when his career began to take off.
