The Bills traded their first and fourth-round draft positions in the 1998 NFL Draft to the Jacksonville Jaguars for QB Rob Johnson. Head coach Wade Phillips said Johnson would be the No. 1 QB going into training camp.
Johnson played five seasons in Buffalo, where he battled fan-favorite Doug Flutie for playing time. He threw for 4,798 yards and 27 touchdowns with a 121.3 quarterback rating as a Bill.
