He returned from a torn Achilles to play in 2014 and won a Super Bowl with New England. But today Vince Wilfork announced on Twitter that the Patriots are not going to pick up his option year.
Wilfork issued a statement on his Twitter account that stated his relationship with the Patriots organization was in good standing and that he still believes he can play in the NFL. Whether New England decides to try to sign him at a lower price remains to be seen.
Not picking up Wilfork’s option should save the Patriots a little more than $8M in cap space.
