The official kick-off of NFL Free Agency on Tuesday, meaning it was finally announced that the Bills came to terms on a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles in acquiring running back LeSean McCoy. McCoy met with the media after the announcement and then swung by our studio to discuss the move to Buffalo. McCoy admits the trade was shocking at first but says he now feels “right at home.” He talked about making the transition and making his focus the Buffalo Bills.
At the top of the second hour, Kirk Morrison, former Bills linebacker and now NFL analyst for Fox Sports called in to discuss the news from around the league including the blockbuster trades and the free agency signings. He also weighed in on the LeSean McCoy acquisition saying that the RB will be a weapon in the Bills backfield, adding “myself and LeSean in a phone booth, he makes me miss.” Morrison also had high praise for guard Richie Incognito.
Finally, Ben Goessling from ESPN Minnesota joined us to talk about the trade made for quarterback Matt Cassel and Jerome Felton, the free agent fullback who is visiting the Bills. Goessling said that Felton is a “true-form blocking back” and a good fit to lead the way for LeSean McCoy.
“It’s something that certainly would make sense if they’re looking to put LeSean McCoy behind a fullback. If you’re looking to protect that investment that you made in LeSean McCoy, it’s certainly a good fit. If you want a two-back set, I think Jerome Felton is the guy to go get.”
