Report: TE Cameron goes to Dolphins
Posted by on March 12, 2015 – 9:17 pmIn the latest step of as the tight ends turn Yahoo Sports is now reporting that free agent Jordan Cameron has finalized a deal with the Dolphins.
So what began as a reported re-signing of Cameron by Cleveland then led to a battle for the tight end with Miami and apparently Cameron’s disapproval of his treatment by the Browns (no co tract offer for months) has him headed to Miami. We’ll wait until we see something is signed before we believe it at this point.
There is a good chance this will take the Dolphins out of the market for their own free agent TE Charles Clay. If that is in fact the case it would be expected that Miami rescinds the transition tag on Clay, which is within their rights as long as Clay doesn’t sign the tag qualifier.
The reason Miami would be motivated to do so is because when they put the transition tag on Clay it immediately counted against their salary cap. If they have no future plans with Clay removing a $7M figure from their 2015 cap would be an obvious move.
