Bills Hall of Famer Andre Reed appeared as a guest on NFL Network’s NFL AM show Tuesday. He was asked to weigh in on Buffalo’s quarterback situation. Unlike most he’s not assuming that recent acquisition Matt Cassel will be the starting QB come September.
“There’s going to be a quarterback competition,” Reed said. “They’ve got Matt Cassel now and they brought Tyrod Taylor in from the Ravens. There’s going to be three guys competing and Rex won’t make a decision until probably the first game.
“I think EJ (Manuel) is going to get another chance and another crack at this. I’d like to see him do well. He’s a good kid. He has all the tools to be a starting quarterback in the NFL. I think the guys are behind him. He just has to have the right mindset going into camp of not only getting better, but being the leader that this team needs on offense.”
