At the combine, Bills 2nd round draft pick Ronald Darby was clocked at 4.38 in the forty yard dash. But according to him, that’s nothing.
Moments after being selected by the Bills, Darby was a guest on The John Murphy Show Friday night. He says the 4.38 clocking in Indy was good enough for him and he chose not to run at his pro day in Tallahassee.
Darby was part of the gold-medal winning USA medley relay team at the 2011 World Youth Championship track meet in France four years ago, while he was still in high school.
“I was all world in track in high school,” he told host John Murphy. “My time was 4.31, unofficial 4.32. So I chose not to run the 40-at my pro day.”
Darby was asked what he brings to the Bills at the cornerback spot.
“Just my coverage skills and of course my speed,” he said. “You gotta be blessed with that, and then you can really play. That’s what I bring. I go out there and cover, go out there and make sure my receiver doesn’t catch any balls and make plays.”
