The team concept has been preached from the get-go by Rex Ryan’s coaching staff and the veterans on Buffalo’s roster are holding fast to it. Evidence of it is found in the willingness of veteran players to help the rookies get up to speed on the offensive or defensive scheme depending which side of the ball they’re on.
Bills top pick Ronald Darby has been one of the beneficiaries. When he’s had a question about how to play a call a certain way some of the veteran defensive backs have given him some of the best answers.
“The coaches also help,” Darby told Buffalobills.com. “But all of the vets are great. (Corey) Graham helped me a lot. (Nickell) Robey, (Stephon) Gilmore, (Baccari) Rambo, a lot of them. All of them really, Ron Brooks. Any question I have I can go to any one of them and they’ll give me the right answer.”
The influence of the vets has helped to shorten Darby’s learning curve giving him a better chance of contributing this season as a rookie.
