It was a medal-winning finish for Marquise Goodwin in the long jump final at the Pan Am Games in Toronto. And Goodwin had some special Bills support behind him Wednesday night.
Bills receivers coach Sanjay Lal made the trip to Toronto to cheer on Goodwin as he earned a silver medal in the long jump, finishing second only to US teammate Jeffery Henderson.
“My receivers coach came all the way up here to support me and take time away from his vacation, so I appreciate that,” said Goodwin. “Training camp is right around the corner, so I’m excited.”
Goodwin had consistent support from Toronto-based Bills fans during the competition at the Pan Am Games.
The Bills receiver was asked multiple times by the media if he considers himself a football player or a track star. Every time Goodwin has labeled himself an athlete.
He went on to say that his commitment is to the Bills.
As successful as Goodwin was with limited training it will make next year’s Olympic qualifying an interesting proposition for Goodwin.
The 2016 Olympic Games will be held in Rio De Janeiro next year in August.
