He’s filled in on the interior of Buffalo’s starting defensive line before, but on Sunday DT Corbin Bryant will be doing it in a game that counts.
With Pro Bowl DT Marcell Dareus serving a one-game league imposed suspension Sunday, Bryant will start in his place. The third-year player has quickly become someone Buffalo’s new defensive staff believes they can rely on.
“He has gone out and he has performed well. That is why he is starting,” said defensive coordinator Dennis Thurman. “You don’t get a chance to start in the National Football League unless you are performing. He has gone out, he is performing, he has done his job, we are confident in him that he will go out and get it done, just as Marcell [Dareus] would have gone out and gotten it done. We don’t feel like there will be much of a drop off, if any. We expect him to go out and perform at a high level.”
Bryant had nine tackles including three for loss with a pair of sacks and quarterback hits in three preseason games.
