He only practiced on a limited basis Wednesday, but WR Marquise Goodwin is hoping that he can get back in the game day lineup soon.
Goodwin, who is returning from a rib injury suffered in the Pittsburgh preseason game Aug. 29th, is anxious to see regular season action. That’s why he was happy to be participating in practice again.
“It’s a step forward,” said Goodwin. “To be able to be out there with my teammates again put the pads on It felt good.”
Goodwin was injured after making a catch across the middle. A Steelers linebacker buried the crown of his helmet into Goodwin’s rib cage as he went to the ground causing the injury.
“It’s a little frustrating, but it’s part of the game,” he said. “I’ve dealt with injuries before. This one, I had no control over. Just trying to bounce back from it and be better when I come back.”
On a receiving corps that has seven players counting Goodwin, the speed receiver believes there’s a part for him to play.
“I see a role for myself,” he said. “They’ll work me in here and there. I can’t really depend on what I think I should be doing in the offense. It’s all based on what the team needs.”
